Located in southern Orange County, Dana Point, formerly Capistrano Bay, is named after Richard Henry Dana Jr. It was Dana who described this beach town as the "Most Romantic Spot in California." It became a very popular beach community among surfers in the 1950s. Dana Point is also known as the "dolphin and whale watching capital of the world."

Dana Point is a very desirable residential community as well as a luxurious resort destination with about seven miles of beach, rolling coastal hills, and prominent bluffs. Beautiful beaches, superb restaurants, and plenty of shopping as well as walking trails, surfing, beach activities, and boat charters, make this romantic coastal community very enjoyable and desirable for residents and visitors. Surf publications such as the Surfer's Journal and Surfer Magazine were formed and headquartered in Dana Point, and the famous film "Endless Summer" was produced by Bruce Brown in Dana Point.
