A Surfside Sanctuary
Well over a century old, The City of Encinitas, Spanish for "Small Oaks," was officially incorporated in 1986, uniting five communities: Historic Encinitas, New Encinitas, Cardiff by the Sea, Leucadia and Olivenhain. Today, each community still exhibits its own and distinct character.
Home to actor Richard Dreyfuss, professional surfer Rob Machado, and professional skateboarder Tony Hawk, Encinitas has been acknowledged as one of the best surfing towns in the world and Swami's Beach as one of the best surfing spots in the world. With its pleasant Mediterranean clime and friendly beach vibe, Encinitas is a community that has the best of all worlds, blending the joys of coastal living with a suburban feel. Easy access to city conveniences including hip new boutiques, cafes and shops of all varieties.
New Encinitas boasts new and modern homes while Cardiff by the Sea offers homes with panoramic views along the two and a half mile breathtaking coastline. Leucadia residents enjoy the ocean views and bluffs as well, while in the east side, Olivenhain offers a quiet rural lifestyle, with large lots properties and horse trails.
Encinitas attractions include Classic Car Cruise Nights, The San Diego Botanic Garden, Salute to Education, Switchfoot Bro-Am, La Paloma Theater, Swami's Beach, Moonlighting Beach and the San Dieguito Heritage Museum.
